Fuengirola

Feria del Rosario is held in honour of Our Lady of the Rosary in the second week of October. Many equestrian displays and traditional Andalucian activities are included in the festivities. Stalls fill the local fairground.

The apartment is on the left hand side less than 100 m in a small square.
Pass Mr Noodle and Suchi Bar – there is a small square. Stroll, do not walk fast as it is very warm!

The second Residencia 2, an uber-romantic centre city getaway in Fuengirola gives the client an opportunity to watch the World go by or even join them – an elevator ride away.

It’s easy to get in a rut if you follow the crowds … which is why it’s such a pleasure to find a new neighborhood to explore. Fuengirola has lots of little narrow streets all offering something unique.

While Fuengirola is a terrific, popular and spotlessly clean resort and town that can get very busy with crowds of tourists in August, just steps away the Don Francisco apartment offers a sleek and peaceful escape. It is no mistake that the apartment feels like a modern art gallery, with original artworks by the owner, a contemporary artist, adorning the walls. We can recommend  activities to you as your insider in the city, suggesting museum visits, daytrips and the hot spot restaurants and bars.

What to know
The apartments are within walking distance of all modern conveniences.
Private Parking at both apartment at no charge.
There are a few fitness centers within short walking distance for the really active.
The beach is also nearby but better, there is an 8 km flat walk used by all the Tourists and Spanish locals alike.
The train and bus services go to and from the airport – 30 mins every half  hour  - and the facilities are excellent. Taxis need not be used for these journeys.

About your stay
We have lived in these apartments ourselves and now live nearby therefore you can be sure they have met our standards.

Our apartments offer a stylish and peaceful escape. But excitement is never too far away.
Their designer pedigree is evident also throughout our apartments, which isn’t over-the-top modern but feels warm and welcoming in a subtle palette of light browns and creams. Red dominates the furniture to lend an air of extra luxury.

The local Spanish bars and restaurants serve a three course lunch with wine for €7.50 to €8.00. Now you will not get such freshly cooked and served up fare anywhere else in Europe at that price! Do not be afraid, it will do you no harm. Fish, pork and chicken are always on the menus. Try the wines for an experience second to none. You can go back to your own local tastes after your holiday.

Spanish people love chatting and talking over a drink and tapas. If you make even a small effort to say a few words – por favor and gracias – then you will find that the locals will be interested in learning where you are from and talking about it. They are also football mad. Well, they did win the European and World Cups recently and their teams are among the most famous in the world. The number 1 tennis player in the World is Spanish.

Andalucía is the largest producer of olive oil in the World so you must try it. As a minimum try it on a toasted roll with a little salt for breakfast and wash it down with a glass of cafe con leche (white coffee). For under €3.00. You will never look back. At 11.00 am try some churros and chocolate. Now you are living.

You cannot visit Spain without trying the salchicón, chorizo, lomo, serrano ham and manchego cheese. Just ask for articulos Ibericos. What a treat!

What to do

1. To make it really easy for you the Tourist office is around the corner from both apartments.
2. The Tuesday market is a thriving place to go for bargain hunters and fruit shoppers alike.
3. Taste Olive Oil. Yes, the most famous olive oil producing area in the World. You have no excuse not to try the many varieties and learn a little about this health giving food.
4. Biking in Fuengirola or hiring a motor bike or a car is no problem. Join the locals and visit Mijas Pueblo. A stunning white village nearby and explore the city’s parks and gardens. Personally I use the public transport that runs all day long and is very reasonable by any standards.
5. Get Shopping. Explore the luxury boutiques of the City. All the big and familiar names are there. There are lots of great finds on the smaller side streets.

This eclectic area is constantly filled with locals and foreigners, with a Spanish atmosphere that is unexpectedly unique.

What we love

1. Portofino, Acqua and Tango are Italian, Spanish and Argentinian restaurants that will not disappoint.
2. Myramar Shopping Centre has shops, restaurants and Cinemas but just to stroll about window shopping is a treat.
3. The lobby lounge of the Florida Hotel is a beautiful resting place right off the beach.
4. Musical amenities such as vinyl, turntables and guitars abound and the disco scene starts around 12 and goes on till the clients leave. All ages are catered for in the many different discos.
5. You like Karaokee. OK you are catered for.
6. T-shirts, bags, watches and shoes are offered by the Lookie Lookie men if you sit out at night. And why not? Everybody does.
7. Internet cafes are available and WIFI facilities are available free if you have to have your computer with you. I thought you wanted to come on holiday!
8. Visit the Casa de la Cultura in Fuengirola, Castillo Sohail and the Casa Museo in Mijas Pueblo. Did I mention Marbella and Puerto Banus? Ronda or Granada? There is so much to do!

What to know

1. The apartments are constantly painted and upgraded and the furniture modernized  as necessary.
2. Bunk beds aren’t for everyone but are available. Extra fold up single beds can also be arranged and a child cot is also available (IKEA).
3. For the ladies there are top class hairdressers and beauty amenities right round Fuengirola. We can make recommendations.

Why to go
Its very hot in Fuengirola therefore expect people to be shuffling about in shorts and tee shirts. You will be also, and bring your Bono sunglasses. Staying in one of our two apartment doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice class or comfort.

Tiled floors are everywhere. The apartments are fully equiped – just bring your prescription drugs but there are farmacías nearby and open 24 hours.

You will never be short of things to do in Fuengirola and the local area. You will meet new friends and maybe even visit one of the many foreign run bars. But, in my opinion, when you are in Spain, Spanish is the way to go!

Did I mention horse racing, mountaineering, skateboarding, jogging…? And the balconies are south east facing to take the sun all afternoon and warm the apartments if needed.

Oh well, if you are looking for me I will be sitting in the shade chatting on my mobile phone or taking a siesta between 2-5 pm, just like the Spanish people!

City Art & Culture Modern

Malaga City is one of the World’s great centers for art and design.

Málaga City is a thriving city only a short train ride away. Walk to the train station in under 5 minutes and travel on the modern, spotlessly clean train right into the heart of Malaga City. Before you get here we will send you a map of all of the top art galleries in the City you can walk about.

Picasso was born there. His parents home now houses the Picasso Foundation. There are two exhibition venues in Plaza de la Merced. The Picasso Museum is a short stroll through the narrow streets. Just steps from the Museo Picasso is the also new 2010 Museo Revello de Toro.

The Baroness Thyssen museum should be your next stop – opened 24 March 2011.
The Contemporary Art Centre (CAC) is right beside the train station and brings World class artists to the City. New exhibitions open all the time.

Booking

To reserve the apartment you need to make a bank transfer of 50% of the rental from your bank to my bank in Spain. In this way there is a record of the transaction. You will have your own receipt and I will also email a copy receipt to you. Once this deposit has been received I will confirm the booking for you.

You pay the balance due on the handing over by me of the keys to you when you arrive at the apartment. My wife and I will meet you there to ensure that everything is as expected. You will text me with your expected time of arrival in Fuengirola. A further €100 refundable deposit is also required at that time against damages and return of the keys when you leave. My wife and I will meet you when you are leaving.

We live nearby and do not anticipate any problems.
